Obituary
I'm not sure if this will get thru to yu folks, but thought I'd send this.  It will be in this Sat Buffalo Eve News.  It's been a busy week, but we had our goodbyes with her at a private viewing last nite.  She'd have like the way it was...simple.  I'm greatly relieved for her sake that her soul is released, because she was totally an invalid for the last two years.  I'll try calling Mary K tonite to chat with her.  Holidays are here, so hope you, Mary and Erika enjoy them.  Hugs, Norma

Anna J. Ziebarth, 96, of Elma, quietly joined her Lord on Nov 11. After losing Norman, her husband of 61 years, she lived alone for awhile in her beloved little house. She then spent her last six years with daughter, Norma Fritz, in Texas.Surviving are her three loving grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She treasured her St. John’s Elma church family, her nephews and grandnieces of Elma and Rochester. Anna’s memorial service and interment will be Sunday May 24 during the 10:30 worship service at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elma. Memorials can be made at any time to that church. (2131 Woodard Rd Elma, NY 14059.) Heaven is now a shinier place because Anna is probably the head housekeeper!
Misc. Notes
From Norma Fritz. Thank you for the offer of the teapot. It has no sentimental value to me, and at age 77, I am beginning to simplify my belongings. I brought 1/2 of a mayflower 18 wheeler moving van to Texas from Elma when I move my mother here years ago. After she finished her time in my household, I had a beautiful apartment for her in assisted living with all of her Living room and bedroom furniture, and knickknacks. When she had to go to full skilled nursing, I brought all of her things here with me.

In looking at the bottom of the teapot I can only guess that it came from the Hall household in Buffalo New York. They owned the Crystal Beach, Ontario concessions... any or all of them I’m not sure about. That’s the only light I can shed on the teapot. I Kept a tea service and cups and saucers given to my mother by a wealthy Ladyon Chairfactory rd in Elma. Forgot to say mother was a maid for the Hall family in Buffalo from 1936 till they married in 1938. I never managed to give Tom all the family info mother had collected. My life has been on the fast track for many years, but I still have it and intend toGet it there. Have a most enjoyed watching Tom’s Facebook adventures and contributions to our world. Have also been to Europe and most especially love love love Germany , Bavaria and that area.
Congratulations on raising such a wonderful daughter with her sweet personality and many accomplishments. Again thanks for the tea pot offer and the update. Hugs to you tchus!

Tom Myers asked Norma this question:
Question for you. My Grandma Mary Kay was 22 when the women’s vote was passed in 1920. Aunt Anna was 8 then. Do you remember any stories about what they thought of the vote?

Norma responded.

My mother never talked much about her childhood, other than to describe the poverty they lived in, and her mothers life when she married Joseph Steve after Joseph Lehner died. Mr. Steve just wanted somebody to look after his kids after his first wife died and really miss treated Mary Lehner and Anna. When Mary died my mother was thrown out of the house without even a bed or half of her belongings. It was such an age difference between Anna and Mayme that politics was not important to them. Mayme could barely keep up with having children and your grandpa Frank having come home from World War I and not able to bring in a big salary. Anna convinced Norman Ziebarth to marry her so that she would have a home. So during the time the women’s vote was at issue, they were just busy surviving and paying no attention to politics. I have one photograph of Mayme in a hat and coat that was worthy of being in a suffragettes parade. It’s really quite a giggle. So my mother told me a lot about living in poverty, and about the time Niagara Falls froze over, but I have had to watch TV documentaries of those times past to find out how crazy the politics and corruption was in the 20s.
