Up at Canada, David was about 4 years old, they were coming back from fishing, showed the fish they caught and then dropped the stringer back in the water, thinking it was tied on, but it wasn’t and they lost all their fish. There went the supper.

One time when David was so little, he went to the out house and locked the door, when asked if he was ok, he didn’t answer right away. They all thought he fell in.

MATTHEWS-Marjorie P. (Haefner) Lifelong resident of Orchard Park, NY, March 17, 2007, beloved wife of the late Merrill D Matthews; loving mother of Gail M. (Jack) Witsil, Cindy J. (Arthur) Fronckowiak, Wendy J. (Howard) Ross and M. David (Sue) Matthews; cherished grandmother of Andrew, Jennifer, Josh, Jess, Cody, Casey, Merrill, Emilee, Maggie and Jacob; great-grandmother of Carly and Jayna; sister of Eleanor (late George) Schwartz. The family will receive friends Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the F.E. BROWN SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC., E. Quaker St., Orchard Park. Services Thursday 11 AM in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4536 S. Buffalo St., Orchard Park. Friends invited. Memorials made to St. John's.

Marj’s Favorite Receipe10
5 lb red potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 lb bacon, cooked and chopped
1-1/2 cup sugar
1-1/2 vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbs corn starch
2 tbs water
2 large carrots, shredded
2 medium onions, chopped
3 tbs fresh parsley, chopped

1. Boil potatoes with skins until slightly firm. Drain and cool potatoes. Peel and slice.
2. Shred carrots, chop onion and parsley. Set aside
3. Cook chopped bacon until crisp (Do not pour off bacon grease)
4. Add vinegar, sugar and salt to cooked bacon. Bring to a boil Remove from heat.
5. Whisk water and conrstarch together. Add to bacon and vinegar mixture (only add enough cornstarch mixture until bacon mixture thikens.) Bring to a boil
6. Fold bacon mixture into potatoes. Add carrots, onion and parsley.
7. Refrigerate after mixing.
