Obituary
Lottie Starowicz (Wilkosz) of Batavia, New York passed away with her family by her side on December 12, 2022 at the age of 89.  She was born in Batavia on July 27, 1933 to father Leon Wilkosz and mother Bertha Wilkosz (Wrobel).  She lived in the same house she was born in for almost her entire life. Lottie was married to her husband, Paul Starowicz, for 67 years.  They had a long and happy life together. Paul passed away on January 10, 2022.
Lottie was the youngest of three brothers (Leo, Stephen, and Edward), and two sisters (Ann Adamczyk and Helen Balonek). Lottie worked at the Batavia Daily News, and then at Jackson Elementary School as a lunch and teacher’s aide for over 20 years.  Her former students approached her in town for years after her retirement because of her kind and caring ways. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she appreciated the frequent and numerous visits with her several nieces and nephews. We will all cherish our memories of the fun times shared with Lottie and the way she made us all smile.
She is survived by children Gary (Deborah), James (Mary K), and Paul Jr. (Laura); grandchildren Sara (Brandon Doll), Becky, Kate, Lauren, Elizabeth, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren include Reece, Chloe, Thea, Reid, and Claire.
Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Sunday December 18th from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, LLC, 2 Bogue Avenue in Batavia.  A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 am on Monday December 19th, followed by an internment service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Mausoleum on Ellicott St. in Batavia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crossroads Comfort Care House, 11 Liberty Street, Batavia, New York, 14020 or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Crossroads House staff and volunteers, who provided Lottie with wonderful care during her final days.

Lottie Starowicz: July 27, 1933 – December 12, 2022

Lottie Wilkosz Starowicz was a remarkable woman. She was literally born in the house at 117 Hutchins Street and lived there all of her 89 years, except for a brief period when she and Pops lived in Jamestown. Wow, not many people can say that!
Like so many depression era children, she was a saver. If you needed something, the odds were she had one tucked away in her “Lottie Store” that she was willing and eager to share with you.
She was kind, caring and easy to please. She appreciated the smallest of gifts and treats and showed her thanks with the most beautiful smile. She often remarked “How am I ever going to repay you?”
She was fun-loving and had a great sense of humor. We all have many memories and laughs shared with Lottie that we’ll cherish always.
She and Pops had a great marriage together for 67 ½ years. They loved spending time with family and close friends. Their grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a special joy to them. Lottie was a 40-plus year cancer survivor, and as such she felt incredibly lucky to live a long and healthy life in to her late 80s, just shy of 90.
Lottie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She is simply irreplaceable in every way, and we will miss her terribly. However, in our hearts we know how fortunate we were to have her with us as long as we did.
Here’s to you Lottie in heaven! May you rest in peace with Pops at your side.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord make me an instrument of
Thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me
sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt. faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Devine Master; grant that I may not so
much seek to be consoled as to console; to be
understood as to understand; to be loved as to
love; for it is in giving that we receive. it is in
pardoning that we are pardoned. and it is in
dying that we are born to eternal life.
